Gourmet jams are prepared skillfully from high quality foods that contain ingredients that are exotic. To make a jam from passion fruit and pineapple, one would require having pineapples, pulp from passion fruit, ground nutmeg, cinnamon, sugar and allspice. Chilli jam is the next type of gourmet one may consider making although it is not a fruit jam but it is still considered as one. It requires onions and garlic to be sauteed until they become transparent. The chillies should then have their seeds removed and tops cut off before they are added to the mixture. It is then cooked until they become soft.

Fish sauce and some tamarind paste mixed together with sugar should then be poured on the cooking mixture. When it simmers for some minutes, it should be cooled and then placed into a food processor that would then blend it forming a consistency named jam. It should then be stored safely for future use in jars.

Another type that would be easy to make at home is fruit salad jam. This would require a number of fruits namely banana, pineapple, kiwi, apple, pomegranate, papaya and grapefruit. Sugar is mandatory in any instant of making jam. The combined fruits should then be cooked to a thick consistency as the desire would be.

Immediately it cools down, it should be stored in clean containers and sealed. It could be stored in the refrigerator if there is one available. One may experiment with adding various fruits or vegetables to come up with more types. The only limitation to adding the ingredients would be the quality of the raw materials and your skill in preparing the jam.

All the above methods are very instrumental in preparation of gourmet jams for either home use or for commercial purposes. These types of homemade jam offer a cheap way of enjoying it without buying the expensive brands produced by the various industries thereby saving lots of money. They are also healthy and safe for human consumption as no chemical is added to them during the time of making them. Having no chemicals in them is great as it reduces chances of getting diseases like cancer and they are easily digested. The skill could also be developed into a profit making venture.
